Mani Ratnam is all set to make his next film Ponniyin Selvan based on a historical novel.
After the disaster of Raavanan Mani Ratnam is doing this project. The novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy is all about the fortunes of Chola Empire during the 10th century. Many directors have made an attempt to make this classical film but none of them turned serious. Mani Ratnam known for his brave attempts is working seriously on this project and right now he is in discussions with the literary expert Jayamohan. Buzz is that Mani Ratnam is going to consider Vikram and Suriya for the lead roles.
Kalanidhi Maran of Sun Pictures is going to produce the film with a whooping of Rs 200crore. Cinematographer is likely to be handled by Santosh Sivan. Music Maestro Illayaraja is composing the music for this historical, romantic, spy thriller film.
